      The Digest of Motor Laws was first published in and endured in print through 76 editions. During these nearly eight decades, the Digest grew from a modest pamphlet to a more than page compendium of motor vehicle and traffic safety laws of the 50 states, territories, and the provinces of Canada aiding motorists, law enforcement, policy makers and others.   On Octo , Congress passed the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of This law required each State to meet the same minimum standards for commercial driver licensing. The standards required commercial motor vehicle drivers to get a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). You must have a CDL to operate any of the following.

The skills and pre-trip tests are waived for this type of license. No special licenses are required when operating personal recreation vehicles, commercial motor vehicles for military.

      The class A driver’s licence allows you to drive a motor vehicle and towed vehicles where the towed vehicles exceed a total gross weight of 4, kilograms (10, lb); and vehicles included in classes D and G.
